As part of Black History Month, Trewyn students welcomed Carlos Walker, a New York City–based author and artist, who read The Autobiography of the Butterfly to 3rd-, 4th-, and 5th-graders. Students enjoyed a powerful story of growth and resilience and received an autographed copy of the book to take home.

Peoria Public Schools proudly celebrated Rev. Dr. Arthur S. Williams, a pillar of the Peoria community, in recognition of his historic contributions and lifelong service during a celebration of his 100th birthday.
Throughout his life, Rev. Dr. Williams broke racial barriers while faithfully serving at Ward Chapel Church. A World War II veteran, he also dedicated 18 years as a crossing guard for Peoria Public Schools, putting the safety and well-being of students first.
His enduring commitment to the PPS community continues to inspire generations. Rev. Dr. Williams received a Remarkable Spirit Award and will be featured in February’s Remarkable Times.
