The Office of Employee Relations and Recruitment is responsible for the recruitment of new school bus drivers and monitors as well as oversee personnel services of the department such as payroll, records management, personnel issues, and the Safety & Training Unit. Becoming A School Bus Driver

What you need:

  • Valid Illinois Drivers License

  • Clean driving record

  • Positive attitude

  • Good attendance

  • Ability to work with children

  • Open to changes and willing to attend ongoing training

Must be able to pass:

  • FBI background check

  • Physical Examination (pre-employment and annually)

  • Drug & Alcohol Testing (pre-employment, annually, and random)

  • 8 hour School Bus Driver Class with State of Illinois

  • 16 hours (or more) of behind-the-wheel instruction

  • Commercial Drivers License written test

  • Commercial Drivers License driving test
