Can we get a happy birthday for Coach Bates? Coach dedicates four days a week in the weight room all year round. He is a dedicated coach for Peoria High, but he gives that same amount of energy to his wife, children, and the kids at the Friendship House. Coach, we are so grateful for you. The Peoria community is grateful for you. May you have the best day you deserve.

Having numbers certainly helps. The boys’ track team has nearly doubled in size, going from about 35 participants to almost 60 track and field athletes. With a healthy dose of experience returning, the Peoria High boys’ track and field team has strived to get 1% better each and every day. With their first meet today at the indoor Big 12 Conference Championships, the Lions are ready to showcase what they have been training for all offseason. https://peoriahighnews.wordpress.com/2026/03/16/boys-track-strives-for-1-better-each-day/

Experience comes in bunches with the 2026 Peoria High softball team. Losing just two players from their lines, the Lions return a plethora of upperclassmen. The junior-senior dominated group looks to build from last year’s season and post one of the better seasons in recent years. Take a look at the preview of the upcoming team down below. https://peoriahighnews.wordpress.com/2026/03/12/softball-team-returns-depth-experience/

🎨✨ Students from the Visual Arts program in the Preparatory School of the Arts from Peoria High School recently traveled to Sterling Middle School for our annual Paint Day, a tradition that connects future artists with the high school program.

PSA high school students partnered with middle schoolers to guide them through painting techniques such as color mixing, brush control, and layering while also giving them a glimpse into what life is like as a high school art student.

The day is part art lesson and part mentorship, with our students sharing advice, answering questions, and helping younger artists build confidence. This year’s paintings were inspired by Ron Clark’s House system, so each group created artwork representing the spirit, colors, and energy of the different houses, turning the day into a fun mix of creativity, teamwork, and future Lion pride. 🦁
