Mock Trial

The WCTC Criminal Justice program held a mock homicide trial April 7-15th.  The unscripted trial was presided over by the Honorable Retired Judge Glen Collier. The trial was based upon the students' participation in a mock homicide investigation which led to an arrest of a suspect. The defendant was found guilty by Judge Collier of 2 counts of 2nd degree murder and was sentenced to two 25-year terms of imprisonment.  The trial was the culmination of a two semester long hands-on learning experiences about the U.S. criminal justice system. The students conduct the entire investigation, interviews, and create a defense and prosecution.  The students also act as the attorneys who defend and prosecute the defendant. WCTC would like to thank Judge Collier for the countless hours he volunteers to make this learning experience a reality.
