Having numbers certainly helps.
The boys’ track team has nearly doubled in size, going from about 35 participants to almost 60 track and field athletes. With a healthy dose of experience returning, the Peoria High boys’ track and field team has strived to get 1% better each and every day.
With their first meet today at the indoor Big 12 Conference Championships, the Lions are ready to showcase what they have been training for all offseason.

🎨✨ Students from the Visual Arts program in the Preparatory School of the Arts from Peoria High School recently traveled to Sterling Middle School for our annual Paint Day, a tradition that connects future artists with the high school program.
PSA high school students partnered with middle schoolers to guide them through painting techniques such as color mixing, brush control, and layering while also giving them a glimpse into what life is like as a high school art student.
The day is part art lesson and part mentorship, with our students sharing advice, answering questions, and helping younger artists build confidence. This year’s paintings were inspired by Ron Clark’s House system, so each group created artwork representing the spirit, colors, and energy of the different houses, turning the day into a fun mix of creativity, teamwork, and future Lion pride. 🦁

Symone Jackson was synonymous with the girls’ track and field team last season.
Now, the 110-meter and 300-meter school record holder is running her freshman season at Livingston College. A new face of the program will need to emerge, and there are plenty of candidates.
The Peoria High girls’ track and field team will begin their indoor competition tomorrow at Illinois College. Take a look at what to expect from the 2026 squad.

The half day at PHS was full of excitement in the end. The staff versus student volleyball game featured some bumps, dives, and spikes. Both teams left it all on the floor!

Peoria High senior Kiara J. was recently honored with an a scholarship from the AA Hall of Fame Museum and her essay had a major part to do with it.
In Ms. Tracy Riebel and Sara Ridley’s English class, Jordan wrote about the Peoria Redwings, a former women’s professional baseball team based right here in Peoria, Illinois.
Jordan is a member of the softball team coached by Maddie McGinness. All three teachers expressed that “Kiara has grown so much from her freshman year. She puts in A+ work and effort, and that they could not be more proud of her.”
If you would like to read the essay, it is published down below.

Coach Daubs writes:
"We could all be wondering what could have been. Sure, making a trip to Ottawa to watch Peoria High take on Kankakee High School would have been great. The amount of college basketball prospective talent on that court mirrors the talent that East Peoria is going to bring instead. It didn’t happen, though, and that is just sports. While the Lions fell short of being a Regional Champion, this team is still a winner."
Take a read on our WINNING boys basketball team that had a great season and own a very bright future up ahead!
