A Look Back at Trewyn's History

Peoria District 150 built a large two-story junior high school on the south side of town on a 15-acre lot on the corner of Folkers and Fremont. The building housed standard classrooms, an industrial arts shop, a home economics laboratory, an art, and craft laboratory, a library, a band room, a cafeteria, a music room, a typing laboratory, and a science laboratory. Trewyn Junior High opened its doors to students on September 1, 1950.

The school is named after Dr. Bryant H. Trewyn, a prominent physician and surgeon, who was very concerned about the good of Peoria. He served three terms on the School Board at various times, also serving as its president.

The school song at this time was:

Rah, rah, ski watten dot and

Bo, bo, ski bo, hey!

Rah, rah, ski watten dot, and

Bo, bo, ski bo, hey!

Skinny bee, skinny bo,

Yea, Tigers,

LET’S GO !!!!
