Students were recognized this past week at the Board Meeting for being Young Author Winners.
Each year, students in grades K-8 are encouraged to write an original manuscript (a fiction or nonfiction piece or poem) to submit to the Young Authors Contest. Submitted manuscripts are collected and judged at the building level by a team organized by the building's Literacy Advisory Council member. The top manuscripts from each K-4 and 5-8 building are then recognized as district-level winners. These students and their families, teachers, and principals are invited to a winner's reception and to be recognized by the Board of Education at a scheduled meeting.
