Dr. C.T. Vivian Primary and Whittier Primary were visited by Dr. Tristen Brenae' Johnson, a Richwoods Alum and the author of "Black History Explorer: My Name, Our Power!" Dr. Johnson is a TEDx Speaker, author, scholar, curriculum designer, and mother. She owns The Tristen Johnson, LLC, a consulting business focused on facilitating, training, keynote speaking, and developing curriculum related to leadership, diversity and inclusion, and team building.

During the visit, Dr. Tristen Brenaé Johnson read her book, which follows a young boy as he discovers the meaning of his name. Students then had the opportunity to ask her questions about the book and her writing process. This will book will be available for students to check out in all Peoria Public School libraries!
