On February 23rd, a special Black History Month assembly happened at Peoria High School for juniors and seniors. The event was organized by the Shaun and Reggie Livingston Foundation. Shaun Livingston, a distinguished basketball player and Peoria High School alum, who actively gives back to the community appeared via video to the students. Shaun's father, Reggie, was present during the assembly and gifted computers and a $500 scholarship to students. Chris Reynolds, the Vice President for Intercollegiate Athletics at Bradley University was a guest speaker, along with Peoria Public Schools Superintendent Dr. Kherat. Dr. Annette Coleman was honored as a former high school principal and her picture was added to the "Wall of Principals!" The Peoria High School Choir sang the Black National Anthem "Lift Every Voice and Sing." Additionally, the Peoria High School Drumline and Dance Team displayed their talents.
