Illinois Report Card information for Calvin Coolidge
November 4, 2019
Dear Calvin Coolidge Community,
The Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) released our annual School Report Card on Oct. 30 at www.illinoisreportcard.com. The Report Card shows how well our school is progressing on a wide range of educational goals. We are proud of our students’ growth in the overall score as Calvin Coolidge moved up in nearly every category and also grew and increased the designation from the previous year’s score.
This progress reflects the investments we have made using 1:1 tutoring during school, 1:1 technology where every student has access to a laptop during class, after school tutoring and SEL counseling incorporating multiple physical fitness aspects, and additional focus on Math and ELA within the schedule and across the curriculum.
Our teachers, administrators, and staff, in partnership with you, are continuing to focus on elevating our NWEA test scores and looking closely at IAR data and how we as a staff can better prepare each and every student to be successful through intentional focus on particular trends and strategies.
One component of the School Report Card is the summative designation – a descriptor of how well our school is meeting the needs of all students. This designation is based on eight indicators of academic success and school quality. The designations are Exemplary, Commendable, Underperforming and Lowest Performing.
Our designation grew last year from Lowest Performing to Underperforming and with some additional focus and growth we are aiming for another improvement this year! There are many areas in which we as a school earned a Commendable designation and as we identify other key areas of need, we hope to grow again in the 2019-20 school year.
We welcome this opportunity to dive into our data and talk about additional improvements and investments we can make to support every student in reaching their goals. Our school is strongest when we all work together, so we encourage you to give us your feedback. I invite you to take the 5Essentials Survey to share your vision for Calvin Coolidge’s future.
We at Calvin Coolidge hold high expectations for all students and believe every student can meet our expectations with the right supports. Thank you for your continued partnership to ensure every child at Calvin Coolidge is thriving.
