Counseling office awarded $1,000 grant

Peoria High School counseling office won a $1,000 grant through Project Reach, a service project of the Illinois Association of College and Admission Counselors (IACAC). Project Reach is designed to provide school supplies, college counseling materials, financial support and other resources to Illinois high schools. Grant winners are chosen annually based on nominations from IACAC members.

PHS counselor Myskeshia Mitchell nominated Peoria High School for the Project Reach grant. The funds will allow the PHS counseling office to upgrade its office space and equipment to more efficiently serve its students. Mitchell also won a professional development grant to attend the IACAC annual conference.

As part of the grant process, IACAC produced a video describing Peoria High School, its strengths and challenges.  Congratulations!
