Kellar Students Shine at PPS Annual Chess Tournament

This year’s Peoria Public Schools Chess Tournament was held on Saturday April 6th at Peoria High School.  Following months of hard work and preparation the Kellar team, led by Mr. Joshua Anderson, competed fiercely against other students from across the district.  In the end, three Kellar Colts, Joseph B. (K), Owen H. (1st), and Zach W. (2nd), all emerged as victorious District Chess Champions.  In addition to all of the fun students have playing the game, chess also helps children build math, reading, and critical thinking skills as well as enhancing logic, creativity, concentration, and problem solving skills.  Great job to all the students who participated throughout the district!
