Guest Reader Week 2019

Community and business leaders visited Kellar classrooms and read books during the week of February 4th for the school’s annual Guest Reader Week. The Kellar PTO generously purchased books for the event and all became permanent additions to the school library. The collection of books purchased and read to the classes included newly released books, popular books, and classics, some recommended by the Kellar teaching staff.

When each classroom had multiple visitors stop in to read a book to them during the week, the time spent with their guest was fruitful in a number of ways.  Students were able to engage in dialogue with their guest readers about the topics of the books read as well as questions about everyday life.  In addition, the interactions during Guest Reader Week provided great insight into the hard work and dedication that happens every day inside Kellar classrooms.

Many thanks go out to Mrs. Andrea Tortora for the countless hours she put into organizing Guest Reader Week!  In addition, the Kellar community is so very grateful to all of the guest readers and volunteers who helped make this event possible.
