Earn While You Learn: Lifeguard Prep Class Offered to PPS High School Students

Over a dozen Peoria Public Schools high school students have registered for the Earn While You Learn Lifeguard Preparation program.

The class, offered by Peoria Public Schools, is a swim and strengthening class designed to teach proper swimming strokes and techniques necessary to master as prerequisites for the lifeguard training class.

Classes will be held at the Manual High School pool and will be taught by Pete Thomas. Students will participate in a pre-test from 9 to 11 a.m. on Saturday, September 25. The class will begin on October 4 and run through December 3.

Lifeguard training courses will be held in winter 2021 and spring 2022.

Students who pass the lifeguard training course will have the opportunity work as a lifeguard for the Aquatics Division of the Peoria Park District.

Registrations are still be accepted to the Earn While You Learn Lifeguard Preparation program. To enroll, students should email their name and high school to Pete Thomas at reginald.thomas@PSD150.org  or contact their high school counselor for more information.
