The 2020-2021 5Essentials Survey for parents is now open. Parents can take the survey until April 2.
The Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) 5Essentials survey provides a comprehensive picture of a school’s organizational culture in an individualized report measuring five essentials elements critical for school success:
The survey takes only about 20 minutes to finish. You can take the survey on your smart phone or a tablet and it is available in English or Spanish. Click here to take the survey.
Prior research in more than 400 schools has shown that schools that were strong on at least three of these 5Essential indicators were:
Ten times more likely to display learning gains in reading and math skills.
Increased teacher retention
Increased student attendance
Higher high graduation rates
Higher college enrollment
These important differences remained regardless of such factors as poverty, neighborhood characteristics, race or gender.
All PPS teachers and 4thth through 12th grade students will be responding to this survey. Results from the teacher and student surveys will be sent to schools in May 2021 and will be included in the school report card.
Peoria Public Schools also chooses to participate in the Parent survey portion. The more parents who participate the more accurate the data will be. If you have students in more than one PPS school, you can complete the survey for each school.
Your help is needed. Please complete the 5Essentials survey today. Your identity and survey responses are completely confidential and will never be connected to you or your child.
