Southside Mission supervisor Gibson receives Community Contribution Award

Each week over 70 Peoria students, many from Roosevelt Magnet School, Trewyn School and Harrison Community Learning Center, gather after school at Southside Mission for tutoring and recreational activities. The program is coordinated by Gigi Gibson, children and youth ministry supervisor and this week's recipient of the Community Contribution Award. The Children and Youth Ministry program includes winter basketball and other sports for students ages 6 to 18, a youth orchestra and a summer day camp. Gibson's team also tutors students both in the afterschool program and during in-school visits.
