Alignment Peoria, PPS Foundation bring speakers to K-8 classrooms

Kindergarten through fifth grade students learned about a variety of career areas as Alignment Peoria's College and Career Awareness K-5 program began its tour of schools last week.

EMTs from Advance Medical Transport of Central Illinois visited kindergarten classrooms throughout the district, demonstrating tools of their profession including a blood pressure cuff and heart monitor. Other speakers included Jones Bros. Jeweler Bob Woolsey, Peoria Chamber of Commerce CEO Jeff Griffin, Paige Dodson, an engineer with Farnsworth Group and Micheisha Armstrong from Caterpillar.

Bringing professionals into classrooms introduces students to a wider variety of career possibilities and helps them visualize a career path that intriques them.
