$50K grant provides new grandstand bleachers for Manual Academy Russell Field
Manual Academy’s new grandstand bleachers opened to the public on Monday, October 1. The Chicago Bears through the National Football League (NFL) Foundation Grassroots Program and the Local Initiatives Support Corporation (LISC) provided a $50,000 grant to install the new Russell Field football grandstand bleachers.
The NFL Foundation/LISC Grassroots Program, a partnership between the NFL Foundation and LISC, the nation’s leading community development support organization, has committed nearly $46 million to the program since 1998, supporting 350 projects nationwide.
“Safe outdoor spaces serve as tremendous community assets by offering opportunities for recreation, education and relaxation that contribute to the local quality of life. Bringing the Bears together with Peoria Public Schools and their neighborhood families builds the necessary pride and resiliency that can lead to lasting, positive change for our residents,” said Karen Davis, Excecutive Director of Greater Peoria LISC.
“We appreciate the support from the Chicago Bears and the NFL Foundation. We cheer our students on every day – both on and off the field. These new grandstands are a wonderful reminder that we have many, many other people cheering for them, too,” said Superintendent Dr. Sharon Desmoulin-Kherat.
