  • Congratulations to Jorge Carballido on his retirement from 30+ years of teaching in PPS!

Posted by Dr. Sharon Desmoulin-Kherat on 12/15/2021 12:00:00 PM
I want to celebrate the retirement of Knoxville Center for Student Success teacher Jorge Carballido in his final week of teaching in Peoria Public Schools.

He has been an amazing and caring educator. When I think of Mr. Carballido, I think of loyalty, dedication and so much more. I thank you for your over 33 years of service to PPS’ students and families.

Please read this note Mr. Carballido sent to me this week.

    Good morning Dr. Kherat,

As I approach my retirement this Friday, I wanted to reach out to you to thank you for everything you have done for me and our district over the years.

Of my 33+ years in education, 30 of those years have been spent here in Peoria schools. When I reflect on this journey, it is bittersweet. I do look forward to the next chapter of life, but will miss the many friendships and acquaintances that I have made while working in our schools. This includes you.

We worked together as colleagues years ago, and I have appreciated the support that you have given me in my educational career.

I have zero regrets for choosing to spend the majority of my career educating our students here in the city of Peoria.

It has been challenging, yet so incredibly rewarding to know that we do make a difference in the lives of our kids by providing them with something that can never be taken away from them - a quality education.

As you know, the district if filled with tremendous teachers and staff that do unbelievable things with our kids and their families. I continue to be impressed!

I wish you nothing but the best for you, your family, and the entire district. I am proud to have served with you these many years and have appreciated your leadership.

    Once again, THANK YOU!

    Jorge Carballido
