My name is Kirianna Dryden and I am a 4th grade dual language teacher at Lincoln K-8. I have been teaching for 7 years here at Lincoln K-8 and I have loved every minute of it. I am 28 years old and have two children of my own. This year my daughter is starting kindergarten and my son is starting preschool.

I started learning Spanish officially in the 8th grade, but I took an interest after a family reunion where I couldn't speak to many of my family members because of a language barrier. I was only 8 years old, but I knew that something was missing in my life. Since I started learning Spanish, I have never looked back and I dream of speaking more languages in the years to come. Because of that formative experience, I looked for ways that I could help other children not lose touch with their heritage, and that is what brought me to bilingual or dual language teaching. I believe that culture is so important to maintain, and I want to do my little part. I am looking forward to another great year at Lincoln!

Mi nombre es Kirianna Dryden y soy maestra de lenguaje dual de cuarto grado en Lincoln K-8. He estado enseñando durante 7 años aquí en Lincoln K-8 y me ha encantado cada minuto. Tengo 28 años y dos hijos propios. Este año mi hija está comenzando kinder y mi hijo está comenzando el preescolar.

Comencé a aprender español oficialmente en el octavo grado, pero me interesé después de una reunión familiar en la que no podía hablar con muchos de mis familiares debido a la barrera del idioma. Tenía solo 8 años, pero sabía que faltaba algo en mi vida. Desde que comencé a aprender español, nunca he mirado hacia atrás y sueño con hablar más idiomas en los próximos años. Debido a esa experiencia formativa, busqué formas en las que pudiera ayudar a otros niños a no perder el contacto con su herencia, y eso fue lo que me llevó a la enseñanza bilingüe. Creo que es muy importante mantener la cultura y quiero hacer mi pequeña parte. ¡Espero otro gran año en Lincoln!
