Welcome to Mr. Hagan's Online Classroom Site!

Welcome to the 3rd grade online classroom of Timothy J. Hagan, the proud home of "Club Hagan".   "Club Hagan" is a rather unique atmosphere.  It is more akin to Silicon Valley tech firm offices than a traditional looking classroom.  In the mornings, your child will enter a room with dimmed lights, jazz or quiet club music, and always important learning activities.  Students are arranged in flexible CDC recommended seatings and move around often.

Your children will return to our classrooms on Wednesday August 18.  However I will not be "physically present" during that first short week.  My son is getting married in Pennsylvania and I of course will be present.  However, I will be "digitally present" through MS teams often.  In addition, one of our finest long term experienced subsitutes will be "present" during that time.  Before school begins, I will chat, email or text you.

We have experienced an unimagineable year and a half.  Your concerns and challenges were far greater than mine.  We continue to "sail on uncharted waters".  I was not nearly as "Technically Savy" as my fellow teachers.  The learning curve for me learning MS TEAMS and other aspects of online learning were "straight up".   My strengths were exclusively "in the classroom setting".  However like you, I and my collegues learned and overcame. I am available for your phone calls, if you don't already have it Mrs. Spohn or Mrs. Rodreguez have been asked to release it.  Continue to check this site or contact me for updates.

A bit about me.....I have been with the Peoria Public Schools in various capacities since 1990.  My tenure as a classroom teacher began in 1998 following my graduation from Illinois State University with a B.S.ed. Summa Cum Lauda, in Early Childhood Education.  I have been posted at Charter Oak Primary School since 2002.  The experience that I draw on includes teaching: Pre-K, 1st grade, the home tutoring of students that have been ill, or suspended/expelled from school, as well as teaching children with marked A.D.H.D., physical disabilities, learning disabilities, and children with autism.

My service to education has been honored with Walmart Teacher of the Year, Council For Exceptional Children: Friend of Special Education,  and Who's Who Among American Teacher awards.  The teaching philosophy that guides me centers on the view that children construct their own learning within their environment through their experiences.  I know that all children can learn and reach their potential through dedicated teaching, proper resources and leadership, and most importantly, involved parental support.  I'm known as having high standards for learning, engagement, and behavior. However I'm often described by children as being a "fun teacher" too. One can be both!

It is an honor to work with an excellent third grade teaching team, an amazing school, and outstanding families.  I welcome all children and committed families to join us on the amazing journey of learning

"Standard Homework Assignments" can be found in the editions of the "Third Grade World News".  Homework is distributed practice and review of recent learning experiences. They are subject to change daily according to need.
