Julie Bonar teaches Business Education at the Knoxville Center for Student Success. She joined the team at KCSS in November 2018, after moving to Peoria from the Washington D.C. area.
Prior to moving to Peoria, Mrs. Bonar served for over a year as the Director of Religious Education at St. Joseph's Church in Pomfret, Maryland.
For over ten years, Julie served as the Director of Chapter and Member Resources for DECA, Inc – a student organization with more than 200,000 members. Prior to joining DECA Inc., Julie worked as a marketing teacher-coordinator, career and technical education department chairperson and lead mentor at two different high schools in Loudoun County, Virginia. During her tenure, Julie led her students to gold level certification in DECA’s school-based enterprise program and served as a contributing writer for School Store Operations, a textbook authored by DECA Inc. and published in conjunction with Thomson South-Western.
Julie earned a bachelor’s of science from the Philadelphia University and a master’s of education from Bowling Green State University.
Originally from Oregon, Ohio, Julie has also lived in Pennsylvania, Michigan, North Carolina, Virginia and Maryland. She enjoys cooking, health and fitness activities, travel, spending time with her two dogs and Ohio State Football.
