Welcome to Lincoln K-8, home of the Mustangs!!! My name is Leah Royer and I am Lincoln K-8's proud professional school counselor. I absolutely love the work I get to do each and every day and am eager to meet with students and families whenever possible. I have been the professional school counselor at Lincoln K-8 since January, 2018, however, I have worked with Peoria area youth in a variety of capacities over the last 15 years or so. I grew up in Peoria, attended Peoria Public Schools, and have two sons who also attended Peoria Public Schools. I couldn't imagine working anywhere else!

You may wonder, "What do professional school counselors do?".

Professional school counselors are trained to:

    • Provide mental, emotional, and behavioral support to students and their families
    • Provide academic support
    • Organize appropriate interventions to meet the needs of the students
    • Support families in crisis and connect them to community services
    • Provide individual and group counseling
    • Collaborate with teachers, principals, and parents on a wide range of issues

**While many of these duties have become challenging under current circumstances, your professional school counselors, like our amazing administrators, teachers and ALL other staff, are committed to providing as much support as possible to students and families remotely. That being said, please don't hesitate to email if you have any questions or concerns during this difficult time.

I check email regularly throughout the day and will respond via email or phone during regular school hours, Monday-Friday, 7:15 am - 2:45 pm. If there is a crisis situation outside of those hours please refer to the list of community resources provided by the Peoria City County Health Department in the link below. DO NOT wait for a response from the school counselor in a crisis situation.

I would love for students to send me an email to let me know how things are going. I miss them dearly! Together, we will get through this. Thank you.
