Hello ! Welcome to Carolyn Faulkner's Online Classroom!Name: Carolyn FaulknerGrade: Second GradeEmail: email@example.comRoom #: 204Class: 2FFrom the TeacherDear Families,
I would like to share a few things about myself, so we can get to know each other. I am originally from Peoria, IL. This year I will be celebrating my 21st anniversary as an educator. I taught for 13 years and served 3 years as an administrator in Peoria Public School District and 5 years in St. Louis Public School District. I have 2 sisters and 5 brothers. My dog child is named Ruffles and he is 6 years old.
You may have already heard your students talking about the Monarch caterpillars we are raising. If you haven’t be prepared, you will. We have several that have entered the chrysalis phase.
I know this will be a great year, I can feel it already! I will be sending home weekly newsletters (usually on Mondays) to keep you current on what we are doing in the classroom. There is a section that lists the homework for each night as well as their good/bad choices (behavior) rating for the day (ranging from 1-7 [7 being the highest]). I ask that you initial it each night so that I know that you have seen their daily activities. I welcome you all to visit the classroom and/or volunteer in the school or classroom at any time. Please remember when you visit the school you must check in with the office first before coming to the classrooms.
My dream is to have at least 5 of my parents join our very active PTO. Meetings are first Tuesday of the month at 6:00 p.m.
I use the word choices instead of behavior because students are given a choice to follow rules/procedures or not. My goal is to help them learn to make good choices that will benefit them this year and hopefully during their lifetime.
Attached you will find parent letters from many of the websites we will use in class. There will be others but attached are the main ones. The link for all of these sites can also be found on my page of the school website.
I use Class Dojo. A letter containing the class code is found in the packet. I use it for communication and good/bad choice (behavior) points. I have sent an invite to all parents and hope you join us.
Below are a list of upcoming dates for either the school or class:
If you ever need to contact me during school hours, please call the office at (309)-672-6571 or e-mail me at firstname.lastname@example.org. If it is after school hours or over the weekend, still use my school e-mail. I check it frequently.
I look forward to teaching your student this year!
