From Gena Appleby, Speech-Language Pathologist
Mission Statement: To create a safe and fun space where all students can work on their communication skills, whether expressed through voice, sign language, pictures or communication devices. All students have the right to tell us who they are, how they feel, and what they want and need.
At Jamieson, we are all about having fun and learning! Speech therapy at Jamieson focuses on developing each student's communication skills needed for participating in school and real-world environments. We go on many community-based outings (CBIs) to work on important life skills. Some of our students are non-verbal, and they use sign language, communication devices or picture-based communication systems instead of spoken language. Speech therapy occurs in the classrooms, the cafeteria, the student apartment, on the playground, on CBIs and at special school events. Communication is needed everywhere! We are a strong team at Jamieson, and we are very proud of our students!
Please feel free to reach me at Jamieson School, or email me at email@example.com if you have any questions or concerns regarding your child's speech, language, communication or feeding skills.
