Peoria High School Orchestras
    "Excellence in Performance"
Mr. Warner, Orchestra Director & Music Director.
    Room 101 & 105
CONCERT ORCHESTRA is the core performing instrumental ensemble of the orchestra department. The concert orchestra (violin, viola, cello, & bass) performs several concerts at school and abroad.  We also join forces with the select members of the band to present concerts throughout the year that are not to be missed!

Students must have played in their grade school orchestra instrument a minimum of 3 years or demonstrate an equivalent level of musical ability.  Enrollment is permitted only by audition and approval of the orchestra director.  Out of this core group, CHAMBER ENSEMBLES and the PHS STRING QUARTET are formed.

The CONCERT ORCHESTRA concert season includes the Bradley Orchestra Festival, PHS Holiday Concert, Music Showcase, Fine Arts Concert, and the Spring Arts Celebration concert.

Our CHAMBER ENSEMBLES play at various school functions, assemblies, and contests. This is a very exciting musical experience.  Solo and ensemble contest is one option for further musical growth and development for these groups.

The PHS STRING QUARTET is the best of the best string players.  This ensemble is by audition only.  The Quartet is the musical ambassador for our orchestra program.  Throughout the year this ensemble will perform at school and various functions around the city of Peoria.

RECITAL/AUDITION PREP CLASS is open to juniors and senior string students enrolled in the PSA Program.  This high level class provides students with the opportunity to learn skills to successfully prepare themselves for college music auditions and other important events and musical competitions.

PHS Orchestra members take a trip out of town, either to hear the Chicago Symphony, St. Louis Symphony, the House of Blues, or attend a musical event.  Every year we invite special conductors, musical artists, and orchestras to perform for our students.  These special events serve to increase your childs awareness of the opportunities in the arts outside of the school environment.  The ultimate goal is to promote life long learning and enjoyment of the arts.
