•  About the PTO  


    By participating in Hines’ PTO you are giving back to the school and the community.  At Hines we take pride in our tradition of “where excellence bee-gins.”  For our students to continue to receive the best educational opportunities possible the teachers and families at Hines need to continue to work together as a team.  The easiest way to do this is to become part of Hines’ PTO.  Our Parent Teacher Organization is a committee of volunteers that work to improve our school.  It is a cooperative between the faculty and staff and the parents, grandparents, and friends of students at Hines Primary School. Our goal is to provide support and plan activities that will contribute to the wonderful learning community we have at Hines.  
    We encourage all family members to become part of this organization.  The easiest way is to come to one of our monthly PTO meetings held on the first Thursday of each month from 6-7 p.m. in the library.  Free childcare is provided.  Come get involved, give suggestions, volunteer, or just enjoy the fellowship of other Hines’ families.  There are always volunteers needed.  There are many opportunities to help that can fit into anybody’s busy schedules.

We have so many exciting events for our children this year.....none of which would be possible without your support.     On Popcorn Fridays volunteers are needed between approximately 7:30 am and 1 pm to bag popcorn and help deliver it to the various classes.  There is an average of about 650 bags popped.  Whether you can come for a half an hour or the full time your help would be greatly appreciated. 
    Fall Fundraiser, PTO Board  
    The fall fundraiser kick-off will be on September 20th.  All forms must be returned by October 4th in order to get your prizes.  If 10 items are sold and the student's order form is turned in by October 4th the students will receive a snow cone treat from the Kona Truck on October 25th.  THE ORDER FORM MUST BE TURNED IN ON TIME IN ORDER TO EARN THE TREAT.  The fundraiser delivery will be from 3:30-7 on November 3rd. All students selling 15 items or more will earn a limo ride to Firehouse Pizza for a lunch buffet.  The limo ride will be on November 4th.  ALL ITEMS MUST BE PICKED UP ON NOVEMBER 3RD IN ORDER TO QUALIFY FOR THE LIMO LUNCH.

                    Mark your calendars now!  Hines’ Annual Santa Breakfast will be on December 12th from 9-11 am.  Volunteers will be needed to help with set up and clean up, as well as cooking and serving.  Contact Melissa Millinger if you are interested in volunteering at  millinger2004@yahoo.com.

    We will be looking for people to help with food, decorations, games, etc 
    The Carnival is scheduled for April 29th from 2-6 pm.  Volunteers will be needed on April 28th to help set up.  Volunteers will also be needed to sell concession items, work games, etc.  We are also seeking donations such as promotional items, tickets, discontinued inventory, and or gift certificates to area businesses.  Please contact Mindy, Jill, or Stephanie with any ideas for carnival games or donations for our silent auction or raffle.

    Please send any Box Tops for Education in with your child.   We will have a contest that will run from October 3rd to the 14th.  The 2nd contest will be from January 15th –February 1st.  The class with the most box tops will receive a special party for each of these contests.

    Come out and support our PTO at our restaurant nights.

                    Hospitality includes seeking donations and organizing meals for both the fall and spring Parent-Teacher Conferences; as well as the meal during Teacher Appreciation week.

    Uniform Buy-Out Days  Please pay $1 and your child can have a uniform free day while also supporting the PTO!
