• Continuum of Gifted and Talented Services 

    The District serves academically gifted students in the following ways:

    Early Entrance to Kindergarten   Peoria Public Schools follows Illinois School Code, which specifies that to enter kindergarten, children must be five years of age by September 1 of their kindergarten year.  Students who turn five years of age on or before October 31 of their kindergarten year, may be considered for early entrance.                                                                                                  Early Entrance to Kindergarten Process

    Single-Subject and Full Grade Level Acceleration (Grades 1-8)   Participation in the Academic Acceleration Program is open to all students who demonstrate high ability and who may benefit from accelerated placement.         Academic Acceleration Program

    Academic Program at Washington Middle School (Grades 5-8)  The program at Washington Middle School is a full-time program designed to support gifted and high-ability learners socially, emotionally, and academically. It offers students an opportunity to engage in learning activities at an accelerated pace, depth, and complexity on grade-level and above-grade-level curriculum.      Washington Gifted School
