    Charter Oak
International Baccalaureate or IB is an internationally recognized education system with primary, middle, and diploma programs.  Here at Charter Oak, we are authorized for the Primary Years Programme or PYP.

The Primary Years Program, or PYP, is designed for primary students and focuses on the developemnet of the whole child as an inquirer, both in the classroom and in the world outside.

The Primary Years Program (PYP) is a framework guided by six transdisciplinary themes (teaching across all of the subject areas) per grade level.  One of the hallmarks of the IB program is its focus on inquiry based study around the core disciplines: Languages, Social Studies, Mathematics, Science and Technology, the Arts, and Personal, Social, and Physical Education.  The program promotes higher level thinking and questioning, global mindedness, and seeks to also cultivate a child's natural curiosity.  Additionally, IB stresses the importance of the student through the IB Learner Profile and what each learner strives to be.
