The goal of the Richwoods MCJROTC PT team is to promote fitness and a healthy lifestyle by setting the example as leaders in Richwoods High School through participation in the National Youth Physical Fitness Program. Participation in this program offers Richwoods MCJROTC the opportunity to compete for the National High School Physical Fitness Championships. As such the PT team has been introduced as a component of the cadet program.
The initial practice of the MCJROTC PT Team is an initial assessment of physical fitness for all the team members. For this assessment we will be using the US Naval Academy Candidate Fitness Assessment (CFA). The test consists of a one-mile run, a 'shuttle' run, a kneeling basketball throw, abdominal crunches, push-ups, and pull-ups or a flexed-arm hang for women (when pull-ups cannot be accomplished). The purpose of the test is to evaluate coordination, strength, speed, agility, and endurance, and can be found at the following website: http://www.usna.edu/admissions/cfainstructions.htm.
