  • Cuddle Compassion Day

Cuddle Compassion Day at Northmoor Primary School Northmoor students really know how to show compassion! Last Friday, Northmoor students remembered former student Aaron Hunter, a student who lost his battle to cancer on December 10, 2004, by wearing pajamas and cuddling up to a good book. Those were two of Aaron's favorite things; wearing superhero pajamas and reading! On this special day Northmoor students brought in donations for St. Jude. The school raised over $550! In addition to collecting money for St. Jude, students made cards for the patients of St. Jude hospital. Activities throughout the day centered around compassion. One class participated in the Scholastic Pajama Program and collected new pajamas for children in need. Other classes focused on how they can show compassion to others. Northmoor students truly know the meaning of Compassion, this month's Core Value!

  • Students Focus on Social Emotional Learning

October's SIP day focused on social emotional learning. Teachers started the morning by reading the book "Only One You" by Linda Kranz. Students then discussed the important messages the book emphasized such as being unique and not following the crowd. Each student in the school painted a river rock with their own unique design. The rocks will be placed in the outdoor classroom where they will remain for years to come representing the uniqueness of all individuals in our school. A sign reading "There's only one you in this great big world... Make it a better place" will be placed with our rocks. Thank you for all of the donations for this wonderful project!
