Ms. Holly Cihla
My name is Holly Cihla and I've been with District 150 Schools for 11 years now. I have taught at Mark Bills Middle School, Trewyn Middle School, and the last 6 years have been with Peoria High School. I currently hold both a Bachelors and a Masters Degree in Special Education with a focus on behavior and curriculum. I have taught every subject there is, and find that I really love teaching Algebra. For my friends, this is funny because I was horrible at Algebra and Math when I was in school.
I have two children, both girls, and the oldest is a junior in high school and the youngest is a fifth grader. Both are very involved with the music programs at their schools. My oldest is a member of the Peoria County Youth Symphony, Master's Class, and Concert Band at her school. Our house is always full of noise! We also have a dog, two cats, two mice and a fish. It's never dull.
I have always worked with children. I began babysitting when I was 12, moved into working as a daycare teacher by 18, and moved into teaching by 27. I've always loved Special Education because of the unique challenges presented. While I hate working jigsaw puzzles, I love figuring out new ways to help kids understand things. And most importantly, figuring out why they act the way they do. Why are they angry or sad or frustrated? It's what drives me.
I welcome phone calls, emails or parent meetings. Please be as involved as you can!
