Illinois Math Academy and CARVER Center offers a 2019 summer session for SAT/ACT prep classes for college bound students. Peoria High School counseling office won a $1,000 grant through Project Reach, a service project of the Illinois Association of College and Admission Counselors (IACAC). Project Reach is designed to provide school supplies, college counseling materials, financial support and other resources to Illinois high schools. Grant winners are chosen annually based on nominations from IACAC members.
May 1st was College Signing Day. Many PHS students made their college commitments and signed during the ceremony. These students will carry their Lion Pride while they pursue their college dreams and show the world that PHS is the Pride of the City. Click on read full story for a photo gallery of the event.
Cross Country fans - the 2019 season will be here before you know it. Time to start making plans to travel to Peoria for 2 big races; First to the Finish (9/14) and the Peoria Invitational (10/5). A big Peoria High congratulations to Freshmen Academy AP Devon Hawks. She was recently named the new principal at Manual High School. Devon has done an excellent job as the leader of our freshmen academy and we're sure that excellence will follow her to Manual. Thank you Ms. Hawks for all your service to Peoria High. Peoria High counselor Myskeshia Mitchell was recently named one of the 40 Under 40 leaders by InterBusiness Issues magazine. This award is given to top leaders under the age of 40 in the Greater Peoria area. Beginning Wednesday, September 5th, Peoria High School will dismiss students at 1:30 PM. This will occur every Wednesday through the school year to provide teachers with an opportunity to collaborate.
