    Representative Jehan Gordon-Booth is proud to again this year be a sponsor of the Illinois Black Caucus Foundation Scholarship. The linked application is for students seeking an undergraduate degree. The deadline to submit your application is May 9, 2017. Applicants should be an accepted student at an accredited institution of higher learning to include community colleges, private institutions and certified vocational training programs. ILBC Members, ILBC employees, ILBC Foundation board members, and their immediate relatives are ineligible for the scholarship program.

  • Scottish Rite scholarship applications available

    The Valley of Peoria Scottish Rite administers two scholarships each year for approximately 50 recipients. Most of the scholarships are awarded to students with healthcare career goals. 

    The applications for the 2017-2018 scholarships are now available at www.valleyofpeoria.com.

    The Health Career Field, Sherwood and Evelyn Kresin and Abbott Scholarship are open to the public. The Robert B. Perkins and Louis L. Williams scholarships require a masonic relative. 

    The application deadline is April 1, 2017.

    Vivint Smart Home is very excited to be offering a scholarship to Peoria Public Schools. We would love to make the application for this scholarship available to your students.

    We would be honored if you could let your students know of this opportunity and include us on your scholarship resource page. The details of the scholarship can be found at www.vivint.com/scholarship. The following universities have shared this opportunity with their students so far: Florida International University, University of Kansas, Iowa State University, Wichita State University and Grand Valley State University.

    Eligibility Requirements

    In order to participate in the scholarship contest, applicants must meet the following criteria:

    • Student must be a high school senior or college student, and a legal resident of the United States
    • Student must be enrolled in school no later than September 30, 2017
    • Winner is not based on financial need
    • Applicants required to submit a video (see “Make A Video” tab on the website listed above)
    • Student must be planning on or already enrolled in one of the eligible majors listed in the Scholarship Official Rules
    • Winner of the scholarship must be living in the United States

  • Society of Women Engineers Scholarship Application Available

    My name is Christiana Aguirre and I am the Outreach Chair for the Society of Women Engineers in Central IL. The Society offers scholarships for girls in the area of engineering, engineering technology and computer science. The applications for the 2017-2018 academic year will open in March 1, 2017.

    Welcome to the Society of Women Engineers Scholarship Application System

    The SWE Scholarship Program provides financial assistance to women studying baccalaureate or graduate programs, in preparation for careers in engineering, engineering technology and computer science. In 2016, SWE awarded approximately 230 new and renewed scholarships valued at over $750,000.

    Freshmen: Applications for the 2017-2018 academic year will open March 1, 2017 

     Applicants complete an application and are considered for all scholarships that they are eligible for.  Applications will be available for the 2017-2018 academic year:

    • Freshmen Application:  March 1, 2017 - May 1

    Note all deadlines are 5:00 p.m. central time. There will be no exceptions to the deadlines.

    Scholarship are typically awarded in May (sophomore, junior, senior and graduate students) and July (freshmen students) for use during the upcoming academic year. Scholarship payments are made in September. Recipients are announced in September also.

    More information on eligibility and requirements is available on the scholarships pages of the SWE website.  A few main eligibility points:

    • Only women are eligible.
    • Undergraduate applicants must be planning to study an ABET-accredited program in engineering, technology, or computing in the upcoming academic year.  
    • You must be planning to attend full time (exceptions are made for reentry and non-traditional applicants).
    • You must not be fully funded for tuition, fees, and books and equivalent.

    Accredited programs are based on ABET accreditation for universities in the U.S.  The list of SWE-approved programs is the same list as the ABET-accredited programs in engineering (EAC), computing (CAC), and technology (TAC). Visit abet.org for more information.

    SWE's Scholarship Program is open to both SWE members and non-members; however, some of the scholarships do require SWE membership. Read about the benefits of SWE membership.

  • Presidential Environmental Youth Award Applications Available

    Apply now for the Presidential Environmental Youth Award program, which promotes awareness of our nation's natural resources and encourages positive community involvement. Since 1971, the president has joined with EPA to recognize young people across the United States for protecting our nation's air, water, land, and ecology. Up to two awards - one for grades K-5 and one for grades 6-12—will be selected from each of EPA’s 10 regions for national recognition. Projects are developed by young individuals, school groups, summer camps, and other youth organizations to promote environmental stewardship. Applications are due on March 1.
