    Good evening Kellar Families,

This is Mrs. Baron with your weekly announcements. We had terrific weather for our outside celebration of Spirit the Kellar Colt.  During our ribbon cutting dedication ceremony, Tommy Williams and Mia Norton were both recognized for selecting the name "Spirit" for our Kellar Colt, which was voted on by the entire student body last year.  Also, Madilyn Robinson's artwork was chosen and framed by Exhibit A Gallery and given to Steven and Marilyn Kohn as a token of appreciation for their donation of "Spirit" to Kellar School.  Our evented concluded with delicious snow cones from Kona Ice.

    Good evening Kellar Families,

This is Mrs. Baron with your weekly announcements.  We are off to a fantastic start this school year! It was great seeing so many families attend both our Kindergarten Jump Start and Unpack Your Bookbag events!  This gave students a chance to check out their new classroom while meeting their teacher and dropping off their school supplies.  A huge thank you to everyone who attended and made it a huge success!

    PTO Meeting
Come join us this Tuesday evening for our first PTO Meeting of the new school year.  It begins at 6:00pm in the cafeteria.  All parents who attend will receive an opt out of uniform pass for their student to use the following school day, in addition free babysitting will be provided.

    Pick-up and Drop Off Reminders

Please do not park in the bus lane leaving your car unattended to come into the office.  You need to pull into a parking spot. This is especially important during arrival and dismissal times.  Also, you need to let your child's teacher know about transportation changes by 2:00 pm. If you do not hear back from the teacher, you will need to call the office by 3:00 pm for verification of the message being received.

If possible, please do not come from Knoxville, instead use Giles Ln. This will allow you to turn right into the parking lot.  Also, when exiting the parking lot, please turn right.  This will help with the flow of the traffic.

    Good Evening Kellar Families,

This is Mrs. Baron with your weekly announcements.

I am so excited that Wednesday will be our first official day of school! I am looking forward to having students back in the hallways and excited to learn! Teachers and staff have been working extremely hard getting Kellar in tip top shape to keep our students safe and ready to learn. Just a reminder that all people who enter the building, must be wearing a mask.

KINDERGARTEN JUMP START OPEN HOUSE & UNPACK YOUR BACKPACK

This coming Tuesday is a special day for our Kindergarten students from 11:00-1:00. Parents and Kindergarten students are invited to attend our Jump Start Open House.  Students can come see their classroom and meet their teacher, have a light lunch in the cafeteria, take a bus trip around the block, and even get a picture with the photo booth props.  Then in the evening, we will have Unpack your Backpack from 5:00-6:00.  All students and parents are invited to bring in their supplies while meeting their teachers and checking out their classrooms.

    BOO HOO YAHOO BREAKFAST

Just a reminder on the first day of school parents will need to say good-bye to their children outside and not walk their children into the classrooms.  Parents who are attending the Boo Hoo Yahoo Breakfast event will follow regular drop off procedure, but instead of circling around to exit, a staff member will direct you to park in the back of the playground/parking lot.  If you are not attending the event, you will follow the line of cars, drop your student off, and then exit the playground/parking lot area.

    DROP OFF AND PICKUP

If your child will be picked up from school (this does not include children who are walking or who go to latchkey) you will need a sign to display in your car window. Please email Mrs. Larson at nicole.larson@psd150.org for your sign.  Signs will be available for pick up on Tuesday, August 17th, from 11-1 or 5-6 in Room 113.  Please click here to review drop off and pickup procedures.

    Dear Kellar Families,

We are so excited to begin this new school year and can't wait to have your students return to our buildings for another year of learning. We also want to update you on the ways we plan to keep your student safe in our building this coming year during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

As was announced in July by the Superintendent, Peoria Public Schools will implement universal masking at all of our buildings this year. We encourage our families to make sure masks are part of their school supply list this year. We will also have masks available at our school in case a student forgets or loses one during the course of the day.

Since the vaccine is not available for our primary school age students, periodic COVID-19 testing will be conducting at our primary school buildings. Beginning Aug. 23rd, About 20%  of students in the building will be administered a COVID-19 test every three weeks. This means your student will only be tested a couple times a semester. Staff will notify parents/guardians that their student was COVID-19 tested that day.

Sanitation and cleaning procedures will be enacted at schools throughout the day to keep the building clean and safe.

Once again, we are so excited for the school year to begin next week. Thank you for your understanding and collaboration as we keeps our buildings safe this year!
