The Peoria Public Schools will offer Summer School Monday - Thursday for all grade levels through much of June and July this summer. Each program will feature academic instruction from 8:45 a.m. until noon, recreational activities from 12:30 until 4 p.m., and will serve free breakfast and lunch.
Students must participate in the morning academic portion to be eligible for the afternoon recreational activities. Programs will primarily be held at Glen Oak Community Learning Center, Harrison Community Learning Center and Thomas Jefferson Primary School. High school credit recovery programs will be held at Peoria High School and the Knoxville Center for Student Success.
Current kindergarten through second grade students can choose to strengthen reading and language arts skills during June or math skills during July, or can choose to attend both months.
For students currently in grades three through eight, summer school academics will focus on science workshops and individualized online instruction. Students will be organized by grade levels for afternoon activities.
English Language Learner (ELL) programs will be offered to students currently in grades kindergarten through 11th grade. The ELL program for high school does not include afternoon activities.
Finally, high school students can take advantage of credit recovery and in-person instruction for English I and Algebra I at Peoria High School and at Knoxville Center for Student Success.
The afternoon recreational activities will feature field trips, sports including golf, tennis, swimming, soccer and fine arts activities. Again, students may only participate in the afternoon activities if they have attended the morning academic activities.
For the K - 8 programs, students will be assigned to the school closest to their home school. ELL programs will be at Glen Oak Community Learning Center. Transportation is guaranteed to students who register by Friday, April 21.Click here
