RSVP for Parent University on Feb. 16 at the Riverplex

Calvin Coolidge Middle School and Whittier School are the host schools for Peoria Public Schools' February Parent University event at the RiverPlex Recreation and Wellness Center (600 Northeast Water Street, Peoria, IL 61603).  The theme for the Thursday, February 16th (5:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.) will be "Fitness and Wellness.
 
RSVPs are required for each family that wishes to attend. Just visit www.peoriapublicschools.org/rsvp by Tuesday, February 14th at noon.
 

Parents can participate in sessions, including "Chair Fitness" by OSF staff, "Emergency Preparedness, Home and Natural Disasters" by the Peoria City/County Health Department, "Parenting Styles, Mentoring, and Good Beginnings" by the Children's Home, "An Overview of Social Emotional Learning at PPS" by SEL Director Derrick Booth, "Coping Skills, Warning Signs of Depression and Community Resources by the Children's Hospital of Illinois, and "Healthy Snacks" by Sodexo. In addition, Spanish translaters, Peoria Public Library, ELITE, and childcare services will also be available for families. Child activities will include swimming, fitness classes for kids, Yoga, and healthy snacks. Make sure you and your child bring your swimming gear and/or gym attire!

 

The menu for the evening will include: Pulled Pork Sandwiches, Potato Salad, cookies and drinks

 

For those that need a ride, shuttle buses will leave Manual, Peoria High, Woodruff, Calvin Coolidge and Whittier at 4:45 p.m. and return shortly after 8:00 p.m.

 

We strongly encourage everyone to park and ride one of the shuttles. Parking will be limited.


There were also be prize drawings and book give-a-ways for parents and students!
