Help us recognize REMARKABLE staff and individuals working in Peoria Public
Schools! The 2017 Recognition Program Application Packet is now available. Nominations are due by Friday, April 17th and a committee of independent volunteers and former winners will select a winner for each of the seven categories listed below. The winners will be submitted to the Illinois State Board of Education over the summer and announced to our community on August 14th at the annual All-Staff event held at Bradley University.

Peoria Public Schools annually recognizes someone from every facet of
our organization that contributes something remarkable every day to our
students, our schools and our District. For certified staff members,
this recognition continues to be in the form of the Donald M. Phares
Award. In addition, other employee types and volunteers are recognized. Applications are now available
nominate your choice for our District's most remarkable custodian,
nurse, teacher, volunteer, secretary, principal, team or administrator.
The application deadline is Friday, April 21st at 4:00 p.m. All
nominations should be returned to the Administration Building.
Nominations can be made in seven categories:
- Student Support
Personnel (Licensed) – School nurse, psychologist, social worker,
guidance counselor, media/librarian/audio visual, or speech/language
therapist who spends more than 50 percent of time in the indicated
- Educational Service Personnel (Unlicensed) – Includes
aides, cafeteria workers, custodians, maintenance workers, secretaries,
bus drivers, crossing guards and others.
- School Board
Member/Community Volunteer – School board member or individual member of
an Adopt-A-School organization, Reading Buddy, community volunteer or
supporter and others.
- Classroom Teacher (Licensed) – Pre-school,
primary, middle or high school teacher who spends more than 50 percent
of the time instructing students.
- School Administrator
–Principals, Assistant Principals, Coordinators, Directors, Central
Office Administrators or others whose responsibilities are more than 50
- Team – Includes, for example, teams of
teachers or administrators, civic organizations, parent organizations,
school boards, booster clubs, etc.
- Early Career Educator –
teachers in their 2nd – 5th years of teaching may be nominated for the
“Outstanding Early Career Educator” award. The criteria for this award
is the same as for any teacher, but publicly recognizes the
accomplishments of a teacher in the early years of their careers.
District winner of each category will be our representative for the
Those Who Excel competition, sponsored by the Illinois State Board of
Education. Help us recognize REMARKABLE at Peoria Public Schools! All
winners will be announced at our "All Staff Event" held at Bradley
University's Renaissance Coliseum on Monday, August 14th at 8:00 a.m.
