    PHS wins IHSA Class 5A State Football Championship

    It was the first state football appearance for Peoria High School since 1988 when the team brought home a 2nd place trophy. On Saturday, November 26, 2016, the Lions earned its first championship trophy to sit beside it. In a 62-48 win over Vernon Hills, the team improved to and ended their season at 13-1. PHS broke several records throughout the championship game, including total points scored in a championship game. The Lions also earned many other awards this year, including: Big 12 Conference champs; Head Coach Tim Thornton named Athletico Coach of the Year; and senior Kendrick Green and junior Coran Taylor named to Illinois Football Coaches Association All-State Team, just to name a few.

  • Parents, Teachers, Students - Take the 5Essentials Survey

    The Peoria Public Schools will join the Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) in the fifth statewide 5Essential Survey of school climate and learning conditions. The survey provides a unique opportunity for students, teachers and parents to have a voice in improving their schools. From November 16 through January 16, students, teachers and parents will be asked to take a 25 -minute research-based survey to help identify strengths and weaknesses in their school’s learning environment. This survey will serve as an opportunity for schools to reflect on progress since the last statewide implementation. While the survey is only required by ISBE every two years, Peoria Public Schools uses the survey as a measurement of its strategic plan and encourages all staff, parents and eligible students to complete it each year.
