  • Students' abstract sculptures displayed at Peoria City Hall

The work of Glen Oak Community Learning Center art students, instructed by teacher Nick Cioni, was displayed at Peoria City Hall this month. To create the modern abstract white sculptures, students used wire with a wooden block base to create a shape. The wire was covered with stretchy nylon fabric and then painted with several layers of white paint. The students were studying the use of negative space to create depth and shadow in a three-dimensional form, and give their sculpture a sense of movement, fluidity and energy.
