    Two members of the Lions first state championship football team will be honored as Tri-County award winners.   • Peoria High Career Center now open!

    The Greater Peoria Works program is offering a career center at Peoria High every Tuesday and Thursday from 2:30 to 3:30 in Room 236. The mission of the program is to develop an educated and motivated workforce of high-quality, work ready employees.   • Coach Thornton wins another Coach of the Year Award

    Congratulations to Peoria High Head Football Coach Tim Thornton. Coach Thornton was selected as the Illinois Coach of the Year by Friday Night Football Magazine. FNF, circulation over 15,000, selects one coach per state annually as Coach of the Year. The Illinois winner for 2016 is the coach of the state champion 5A Peoria Lions, Tim Thornton. Congratulations Coach.

  • LIons win IHSA Class 5A State Championship!

    It was the first state football appearance for Peoria High School since 1988 when the team brought home a 2nd place trophy. On Saturday, November 26, 2016, the Lions earned its first championship trophy to sit beside it. In a 62-48 win over Vernon Hills, the team improved to and ended their season at 13-1. PHS broke several records throughout the championship game, including total points scored in a championship game. The Lions also earned many other awards this year, including: Big 12 Conference champs; Head Coach Tim Thornton named Athletico Coach of the Year; and senior Kendrick Green and junior Coran Taylor named to Illinois Football Coaches Association All-State Team. The community helped the team celebrate with a parade, led by Peoria Police and Fire, followed by a ceremony at Peoria High School on Sunday afternoon.
