Sterling Middle School raised over $1,800.00 for Easter Seals. This is Sterling Middle Schools 6th year participating in Coins for Kids. Teachers incorporated Disability Awareness lessons into their curriculum and taught the students the true value of giving back to their community. Homeroom classes competed against each other to see who could raise the most money.
On Tuesday, November 8, Peoria county voters will consider whether to support The Peoria County School Facilities Sales Tax. If approved by voters, the ½% sales tax would generate $9 million annually to be shared among all Peoria County public school districts, based on enrollment. The Peoria Public Schools would receive approximately $4.2 million annually. The revenue is to be used specifically for school building improvements. The Peoria Public Schools building and grounds staff has assessed the needs of each building in the District. Here is the plan for Sterling Middle School.
Students at Sterling Middle School will start the school year on August 18th at a newly authorized International Baccalaureate (IB) World School. Sterling Middle School is one of four Peoria Public Schools that have spent the last three years working through the pre-authorization process for the IB Programme. Sterling Middle School received the official notification on Thursday afternoon, July 10th for a three-year Middle Years Programme (MYP) offering MYP years 1, 2 and 3. According to the International Baccalaureate website, Sterling Middle School will be the only Illinois school outside of Chicago to offer the Middle Years Programme.
